Jasmine, radiating peace.

Sunday, January 25, 2009

It has been four years since we found Mimi eating dry cat food on our porch in a cold December.

It doesn't seem like it has been that long--I still think of her as being one of the newer cats. She is slowly finding her place in the household and gaining some confidence. But cats have long memories and I doubt that she will ever forget being abandoned.

Who's that lurking behind the Norfolk Pine?

It's Fiona--checking out the view from the patio window.

She still has a hesitancy in her eyes--an uncertainty that seems to ask, "Am I doing okay? You aren't mad at me?"

I hate that she is so afraid but to see her starting to enjoy the public areas with the other cats is a good sign.

Office Help

Maybe having an office cat isn't always a good idea...

Thanks to My Life in Spain for the link!

She was sitting in the window, facing south, eyes closed as the sun rose--finally--from behind the hill. It was almost as if she was in meditation--or prayer.

Just as I snapped the picture, she turned to look at me.

She has moved through temporary names--Sally, Large Marge, the Big Tabby--before we settled on Fiona for our large kitty with a troubled past. She is learning to trust us. The fragility of her trust breaks my heart. She was a little striped kitten once, she was some one's kitty. Someone must have loved her once. But she showed up on our porch with a wound on her head and a timidity that didn't quite trust our goodwill. And no one seems to be missing her.

We are glad she is learning to trust our love.

Good-Bye, Sweet Bandit

Bobbie's Bandit

I just found out that our friend Bobbie in Georgia had to say good-bye to her sweet boy, Bandit, after a long illness.

Be at peace, Bandit. Watch over your family with love. You are missed terribly.
