When Cats Attack

Another favorite from You Tube:

This out-of-control animal reminds me of some of our cats...

Tiny and the Catnip Pillow

Tiny found the catnip pillow that I recently re-stocked with fresh leaves and enjoyed a pleasant break.

Charcoal came up to lie on the bed beside me while I was working on the computer.

As always, I had my camera handy...

Our dear old Fred just keeps on keeping on.

Since he came to live with us some sixteen years ago, he is probably eighteen years old by now. He has turned into a skinny old man. We had him checked for hyperthyroid a couple months ago but aside from (probably predictable) elevated kidney values, he checked out okay. I give him fluids under the skin every day or so but he doesn't absorb it well. Still, it seems to keep him feeling chipper. He seems to have lost a lot of his hearing but he is alert and bright and has a vigorous appetite.

I know we don't have a lot of time left with Fred, but we have had many good years behind us.

The Cat Run - 11 PM

A typical summer evening scene. I came home from work to find Maggie Mae and Twitch enjoying the warm air and sunshine from the safety of their cat run.

Making The Bed

Bunny may be blind, but she is all cat.

And as you know, there is nothing that brings out the helpfulness in a cat like trying to make the bed. It was difficult enough trying to work around Punkin, who was enscounced under the covers, but as I tried to work the mattress pad around Punkin's resistant bulk, Bunny decided to jump up on the bed and supervise.

Punkin, roused from her nap, decided to make a nest of the new sheets, so I had to abandon my attempt at bed-making until she lost interest.

In the end, I could tell the girls thought it was a job well done.

The Cat Run

This is the cat run--accessed by the cats in the shop. Normally there is a cat-door in the entry at the back but it has been taken off for the summer.

I usually put hay on the ground, but Denny came up with the idea of cutting some of the rye grass growing in our yard and using that during the summer as a ground cover. So the floor is fresh and green today.
