Charcoal

Charcoal is growing more frail each day. These are the last days of her life.

Her mind is alert and her appetite is good but there is so little left of her--just bones and that magnificient coat--still gorgeous even now at this extremity.

She is happy--purring and greeting us--so I can't feel sorry for her. She has had a good life with us for these past fifteen years. But biology is failing her and there is no remedy for mortality.

I only hope that her end is quick and easy.

How beautifully stated - and so sad - my thoughts are with you.

Ditto! Well said, Laura! It's sad nonetheless, even knowing they had a good life. You and Charcoal are in my thoughts.

I hope so too Laura. Charcoal is such a beautiful looking cat. She is lucky to have had 15 years with you.
