Despite their fierce reputation, our eagles are more scavenger than predator. In the confines of our yard, there isn't much swooping space for the eagles and Max is a good-sized cat. One hears stories, of course, about the small dog or cat snatched by eagles but I don't know anyone personally who has lost a pet to eagles. Of course, Max is bird-wise--skirting open spaces rather than walking across them.
Shoretly after I took these pictures, the two eagles flew away. They like the vantage point on the hillside but Max didn't seem to interest them much.
I have cats. Lots of them. Not on purpose. Generally they just happened, one at a time. Up here, when someone comes to your door in the winter, you let them in.

Surely the eagles wouldn't snaffle him would they? I'd be terrified if that were the case.

Ha ha Laura - I like the term "bird-wise". I'm going to borrow that expression!
So glad that Max will be ok and thank you for the explanation.
He sure is a handsome fella!
Looks quite content to me. Happy 4th, Laura!
