A Cat Named Bunny

Flowers for Bunny

This is hard to write because it is hard to grasp the idea that Bunny is gone.

She went downhill quickly. We had made a pledge to her that we wouldn't let her suffer. When it became too hard to keep that promise, we had to let go of our little blind girl.

For so long, she was like the rocks, the earth--a steady, dependable presence. The reality hasn't sunk in yet. We have yet to truly miss Bunny.

Good bye, sweet Bunny....till we meet again. I'm sorry for your loss, Laura. I'm glad you didn't allow her to suffer. It's the ultimate gift we give to our pets.

Laura, I'm so sorry but you gave her the gift of freedom from pain and wherever she is, she can see you now. Farewell little Bunny.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bunny. I know your pain. I still miss my Butterball like crazy even after two months. He was the rudder in my house of 10 cats. Things still do not feel right without him. Such a hard, hard decision but you truly gave her a final pain-free sleep.

You say "For so long, she was like the rocks, the earth--a steady, dependable presence." Just like my Mishka, also an elderly tortie, who passed away last September. The house seemed so empty long afterward - she would rule on the 2nd floor of the house - it is so lonely without her. She was our first, our "baby". My sympathy to you, Laura. I have been looking over your blog - all those cats - so lucky to have been saved by you. I have done the same over the years. You write very beautifully - bringing me often to tears. And, "winter fire and snow" - I always connect that song with my Bandito who spent 2 years out in the cold before we were able to bring him in. Seeing the picture of Bunny, brought to mind very vividly, my Misky-moo, as we called her. I am glad I found your blog, and once again, my sympathy to you.
